Here is the image I have been using as a symbol for our trip. It is of the old and new spires of the Kaiser Wilhelm Kirche, a potent symbol in Berlin.
I find it encapsulates what we will experience on this trip:
- the illumination of history through the physical experience of place,
- the juxtaposition of modern and traditional architecture experienced simultaneously, allowing for the true reading of space which is so often missing with online research.
These themes will hopefully find their way through this blog, and pop up in the students' blogs along with their personal takes and themes. If you are following our travels, I hope these blogs prove both entertaining and educational.
